We believe we are one of the best financial literacy services around.
We have been delivering accredited training workshops based on financial themes since 2004.
Our service was one of the first financial capability projects in the North West (possibly in the UK) to offer accreditation via the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA) Unit Award Scheme and act as an AQA registered centre. Thus our participants can receive a recognised certificate to mark their achievements.
We are keen to ensure that participants enjoy sessions and have fun whilst building personal financial skills and knowledge. We aim to widen participation in adult learners to develop confidence and increase personal motivation as well as imparting practical advice and tips on financial/consumer matters.

About our sessions
The sessions are specifically targeted to meet the needs of each group and are run as participative workshops providing a supportive and informal learning environment where the individuals own life experience is valued and respected. Each session lasts for about 2 - 2 ½ hours with a comfort break in the middle.
We are aware that some participants may have difficulties with literacy, numeracy or other issues so we arrange practical exercises and activities to ensure that no-one is made to feel uncomfortable or threatened. We provide handouts for each session and participants are not asked to share any personal information. We can adapt our sessions to ensure that participants get any extra support they may need and you are welcome to attend with your client if appropriate. Please advise us of any related issues when you contact us.
Each session has been developed to cover a different aspect of money management and provides practical help for people whatever their income. Sessions are optional, so participants only need to attend the ones they will find useful. Our sessions have been designed to improve awareness and knowledge in participants to help them make informed financial decisions.
We also offer Taster sessions. Tasters can cover aspects from any of the accredited sessions, last around one hour and can be run as an introduction to the Money Skills Service. Our most popular include saving for Christmas or other important events and Energy Best Deals.
Who do we work with?
We may be able to run sessions for your community group, although we do require a minimum of six participants and a suitable venue.
Alternatively you can refer your client to one of our "Interested Participant" (IP) sessions which we run on a regular basis in and around Bolton. Please ring us or email us with your clients name, address and telephone number and we will add them to our mail list to let them know when sessions are taking place.
Sessions are FREE for those who live or work in Bolton. Please check our News and What's on page to find more information about current and forthcoming sessions.
Do we work outside of the Bolton area?
We are available to run our workshops throughout the North West, although we do charge for this service.
