Do I need to have accurate details of my in goings/outgoings before I come to the appointment?

You will not be expected to know exact amounts for your income and expenditure. You will, however, be sent a letter enclosing the checklist and a weekly income/expenditure sheet before your appointment. If you can fill this in as best you can, and bring the requested information with you, this will act as a starting point for the budgeting advice to be discussed.

How long do the appointments last for?

The first appointment will last between 60 and 90 minutes; however please leave yourself plenty of time if you're arranging childcare.

I feel that my finances are in a bad state and can't see any way back to getting my money on track. Will you still be able to help?

Yes. If you are eligible to use our one to one service we can assess the best way forward for you. This may mean referring you for more specialist debt or other advice.

If you are not at risk of losing your home, but have multiple debts you may still be able to get help from us or our colleagues. Please contact us for further information.

You can visit our Self help area to give yourself an understanding of how you can deal with your debt and/or attend one of our workshops.

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?

We work on an on-demand basis, so the waiting time depends on how busy we are. When you contact us you will be given the earliest appointment available.

Can I bring my children with me to the appointment?

We generally advise parents to try and find alternative child care for the appointment. This will enable you to focus on the advice provided and discuss your financial situation in depth. However, your child's presence is by no means prohibited and we understand that child care cannot always found.

Please see About - one to one appointments for more information.
