Are you behind with your bills and worried about money?  Money Skills offer advice to people who live, work or study in Bolton.  We can help you whether you are in or out of work, renting or mortgaged.

How we can help:

  • Free, confidential and impartial expert debt advice available by face to face appointment or invited drop in service (There is currently limited availability for face to face appointments.  The drop in service is now by telephone).
  • Homelessness prevention advice and assistance for mortgage and rent arrears
  • Dealing with council tax and fuel arrears
  • Affordable and realistic payment arrangements negotiated
  • We’ll support you to enable you to take control of your finances
  • Our Money Advisors hold the Certificate in Money Advice Practice qualification awarded by the Institute of Money Advisers

A money advice appointment usually lasts between 45 to 90 minutes. We ask you to bring the following to the appointment:

  • Details of wages and salaries
  • Benefit award letters i.e. how your benefit was worked out
  • Council tax bills
  • Gas, electric, water and other household bills
  • All court papers
  • Statements, letters, agreements of all money owed (i.e. credit cards, hire purchase agreements, store cards)

If you do not have the any of the above, we can still help you.
