Some roles require certain skills but this will be stated clearly in the role description. Other volunteer roles don't require specialised skills or qualifications. In all cases you will be given any training you need.
There is currently no formal qualification available however as a volunteer you will be expected to attend various training courses to develop your personal knowledge and skills. The training includes our AQA accredited workshops and you will receive a certificate for each workshop you attend - a total of 8 in all.
Yes. We normally ask for at least one reference. Ideally this would be from someone who knows you in an official capacity; however we can accept references from other sources. We can discuss this at your informal chat.
We will discuss and identify specific training you need to perform your role‚ you will have your expenses reimbursed and you will be supported by a member of staff who will answer any questions or help with any problems.
As a volunteer you will attend one to one meetings with a member of staff where you can discuss any aspects of the role you are not happy with. Your supervisor could then see if there is anything they can do to improve your experience, such as changing your role to something you find more interesting. Ultimately, of course, you can leave.
